To the Disco is an animation inspired by a 2D mixed media illustration. In this shot we watch as turtles race across the screen through pulsating sci-fi rings.

The turtles and rings are modelled, rigged and animated in 3D. Hand painted textures are applied to the turtles; meanwhile, the rings are given a physical material of translucent green glass. The background is animated in 2D and reflects the waves and ripples created by the commotion of the creatures.

The audio behind To the Disco was developed by Will Curry. A range of synthesizers create the melody, rising with turtles to a disco beat.
