To The Disco

A bold, character-led burst of rhythm.

To the Disco began as a sketch and evolved into a short, high-energy animation designed to explore how simple ideas can be transformed into playful visuals. It’s a fun piece driven by character and rhythm, experimenting with pace and flow.

TURTLES.jpg

The turtles and rings were modelled, rigged, and animated in 3D, with hand-painted textures that give the turtles a unique, illustrated quality. The rings were rendered as glowing translucent glass, adding a sci-fi edge to the scene. A 2D animated background responds to their movement, bringing extra rhythm, depth, and energy.

The audio, created by Will Curry, drives the momentum. Pulsing synths rise with the turtles’ movement, creating a beat-driven flow that connects the visuals with sound.

While not built for a client, To the Disco reflects the kind of bold, character driven work we love to create. This piece shows how a 2D illustration can evolve into something dynamic and unexpected through animation techniques and creative direction.
